Joseph E. Rubas
Joseph E. Rubas has over eighteen years’ experience in complex litigation and transactional matters with a particular emphasis in construction law. He has devoted most of his career to the representation of architects, engineers, developers, hospitals, general contractors, subcontractors and business owners. He has handled the full spectrum of construction related claims from business disputes over the construction of power plants to residential home defect cases to mechanics liens. Joe has brought and defended several multi-million cases centered on alleged professional design errors including cases involving prison facilities, university housing, manufacturing plants, and luxury homes and hotels. He has also handled numerous subrogation cases involving property losses caused by catastrophic accidents including roof collapses, hotel and warehouse fires, and water pipe ruptures.
Joe has considerable trial experience in both state and federal courts and has argued numerous cases at arbitration hearings and mediations throughout the country. He also has handled both state and federal appeals from filing through court decision.
Additionally, Joe has negotiated and drafted construction contracts for architectural firms, hospitals, and contractors for various types of projects including residential developments and medical facilities. He has also prepared corporate documents for both start-up businesses and for well-established contractors including asset purchase agreements, articles of incorporation, operating agreements, and employment and consulting agreements.
Joe also has strong working knowledge of the insurance industry having worked in house for a major professional liability carrier. Joe holds an all- lines insurance adjuster license, as well as a real estate managing brokers’ license.
Joe resides in Naperville with his wife, Wendy, and their two children, Grace and Joey.
