Doug Michaud has handled both complex commercial litigation matters and multifaceted business transactions for more than 20 years.
As a litigator, he has appeared in both federal and state courts around the country. He has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants in disputes involving real estate transactions, environmental liabilities, business torts, insurance coverage, contracts and promissory notes, commercial foreclosure, and personal injuries. In one case, Doug compelled a plaintiff in a commercial dispute to settle for $600,000 after the plaintiff initially demanded $7 million by presenting a vigorous defense that included the barring of the plaintiffs’ expert witnesses.
As a transactional lawyer, Doug has handled complex commercial property transfers, small business formations, corporate governance documents, environmental due diligence, corporate stock and asset transfers, commercial leases, and condominium association governing documents. In one transactional matter, Doug helped a client structure and complete the purchase of a multi-million dollar commercial property and the multi-million dollar mechanics liens and judgments necessary to clear title to the property and pursue a judgment debtor.
Doug lives in Oak Park, Illinois, with his wife and three children. He coaches youth sports, volunteers for a local homeless shelter, and is an avid hockey player.
